Jim Lawrence graduated from Notre Dame University and Kootenay School of Art with a diploma in Fine Arts, in 1973.

He worked for the Provincial government managing Resource mapping and drafting, in the number of mapping departments. In 1978 to 1988, he stated working for the Surveyor General Department, in the Computer Graphics section where he developed many of the system utilities and designed a full surveying application.

In 1988, he left the government to start his own company, J & M Business System Inc. where he worked until Syscom Consulting Inc bought up his company.

He worked for Syscom Consulting Inc. for the next nine years as a System Specialist, Developer and Systems Consultant until the major business cycle downturn nearly collapsed the company, in 2000

Since then he has been back to school, learning E-Commerce Web designs and development and doing private consulting and development work for businesses and government agencies.

In 2003, he was hired, on a full-time base, by the Provincial government to work with Oracle applications, producing specilaity reports, along with a number of unspecified systems and development tasks.
